​Decompost Night — Rot with Intention

​Fridays, 6–8pm (every other week, starting November 7)

​As the week winds down, come soften at the edges. Decompost Night is an intentionally unintentional hangout — a gentle exhale from the workweek and a reminder that slowing down can be a shared act.

​❄️ I’m in the holiday spirit. This round, I’ll put out supplies for making paper snowflake garlands.

​🕰 Flow / Schedule

​6:00 – Doors open, shoes off, slide into ease

​6:15 – Gentle arrivals, conversations, cartoons, chill time

​7:00 – BYO dinner, drift between tables or corners

​8:00 – Fade into the night, a little more decompressed

​👥 Facilitators

​Julie Ann and Isa — a mom-and-kid duo cultivating new rhythms of community care.

​Together they’re experimenting with what it means to mix ages and circles that might not meet otherwise — creating a family-friendly Commons gathering seeded from their school community and open to all.

​Outside of mom-mode, Julie Ann Nepomuceno is an architect (the actual kind) turned marketing manager, Bay Area born and raised, and stubbornly car-free. Julie Ann is a frequent face at The Commons, often accompanied by her 9-year-old, drawn to the space’s sense of sanctuary and proximity to Trader Joe’s. Her work and curiosity live at the intersection of design, community, and human-scale living as the Marketing Manager at Opticos Design, the firm behind the hottest topics in urban design, Missing Middle Housing and Form-Based Code.

​💫 Who This Is For

​For anyone who wants to be out of the house on a Friday night but not at a bar or restaurant.

​For parents craving a bit of breathing room, and for Commons members who want to help build a collective of trusted adults and neighbors.

​For anyone curious about belonging that grows slowly, the way compost becomes soil.

​This event is open to all ages and backgrounds.

​Nothing required — this is a super chill, come-as-you-are gathering.

​Bring your own snacks or dinner if you’d like; there are plenty of nearby options.

​This event is free and open to the public.

​Donations to support family-friendly programming at The Commons are welcome but never required.

​***Suggested donation of $5-10 at the door to cover the cost of hosting the event.

​🚪 Arrival Info

​📍 Location: The Commons, 550 Laguna, is at the corner of Hayes & Laguna St at the basement level. To enter, go down the stairs under The Commons sign.

​🧦 Shoes off inside — The Commons is a socks-only or barefoot space. Slippers and shoe coverings are available.

​🚗 Parking: If street parking is full, Trader Joe’s offers 2 hours of free parking for customers (store open till 9pm).
