​We Put AI Into Every Stage of Our Design Process. Here Is What We Had to Unlearn.

​Over the past year, a four-person design team at ShopBack rebuilt how they work across research, design and localisation around AI. Turns out the tools were not the problem. How we collaborate, who owns what, and when something is actually done. Those were the real blockers. In this talk, Becher and Angelica walk through what they had to unlearn, what surprised them, and what they are still getting wrong.

​Becher Ku is a Product Design Manager at ShopBack who splits his time equally between building and managing. He uses AI to build the workflows Product Design team runs on, and coaches the people using them. Over the past year, he has led the effort to rebuild how the team works across research, design and localisation around AI.

​Angelica Dilidili is a Product Designer at ShopBack, where she builds the design systems and rules that make AI-generated output reliable enough to ship. She is the person on the team who has to answer the question: if AI can produce a design, how do you make sure it is any good?

a Side Project with AI

​Ideas used to be expensive. You picked a direction early and defended it, because exploring a second one cost you a week. That is over, and most of us have not updated our process yet. In this talk, Jian Jie shares how he designed openlocum.sg, a locum job board for Singapore doctors, jamming his way through it in Paper, component by component and flow by flow. What should a rate filter look like? A date picker? He pulled real references in through the Mobbin MCP, threw a dozen directions at each problem, and killed most of them within the hour. He will show the ones that did not survive, the places both tools genuinely broke, and how a workflow this fast changes things when you take it from a solo project into a team. The loop is not tool-specific, and he would like you to go break it.

​Liau Jian Jie is Co-founder & CTO of Mobbin, a design reference platform used by over two million designers, built from Singapore, where he leads the engineering org. Most of his days now go to strategy and growing the team, which is exactly why he keeps a side project: building is his core, and openlocum.sg is how he finds out what it actually takes to make a product from scratch with the tools available today.
