Startups will save the world

Brought to you by CrowdSolve, 1000 Gretas and, in conjunction with Techstars.

Climate change is not a single problem waiting for a single breakthrough. It is a systems challenge that demands thousands of experiments across energy, food, mobility, buildings, and industry—many of them local, contextual, and iterative. Yet much of the climate conversation still centers on a narrow set of technologies and later-stage companies, leaving enormous potential unrealized at the earliest stages of innovation.

This panel explores a simple but powerful premise: the fastest way to accelerate climate solutions is to dramatically increase the number of impact-driven startups being formed, supported, and tested in the real world. Panelists will examine why climate progress depends on learning velocity as much as technical novelty, how startups function as rapid feedback engines for climate innovation, and where today’s ecosystem systematically under-supports first-time and non-traditional founders.

Drawing from experiences across entrepreneurship, investment, and ecosystem building, the discussion will unpack what infrastructure is needed to turn more climate ideas into viable companies—from pre-accelerators and founder communities to new models of mentorship, capital access, and early customer validation. The session will close with a forward-looking view of what success looks like if we shift from betting on a few “winner” technologies to building a broad, inclusive pipeline of climate entrepreneurs.

Audience takeaway: solving climate change requires not just better ideas, but a better system for turning many ideas into action.
