[Webinar] Inspiration Valley - Gianluca Sommariva

​For the upcoming webinar organized in collaboration between Silicon Valley Study Tour and Lead The Future Mentorship, Gianluca Sommariva will share his life as a CEO & co-founder of Hodli.

​Gianluca's journey begins at the Università degli Studi di Genova, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering in 2019 and met the classmates who would later become his co-founders.

​In 2019, he continued with a Master's degree in Artificial Intelligence and Human-Centered Computing at the same university, graduating in 2021 with 110/110 cum laude. During this period, he also worked as a tutor within the University.

​In 2021, he completed a six-month internship as a Software Engineer at Hitachi Rail in Genoa. Later that year, he returned to the University of Genoa as a Research Associate, working on AI applied to aviation, a role he held until 2025.

​During that period, together with Gianluca Boleto and Lorenzo Maffia, he started applying AI to financial markets, looking for trading models able to outperform the market benchmark.

​In January 2023, the side project became a company: Hodlie. The first beta came out the following month, and in September 2023 the platform officially launched.

​Its first product, the AI Portfolio, automatically manages multi-asset crypto portfolios based on each user's risk profile.

​In September 2025, the startup closed its first seed round of €1.05 million from business angels and the real estate asset manager Martina RE.

​After rebranding as Hodli, in June 2026 it was authorized as a crypto-asset service provider under the EU's MiCA regulation, becoming Italy's first manager of crypto asset portfolios. Gianluca now leads Hodli as CEO & Co-Founder.
