Builder Meetup: Private AI
This month's Builder will focus on privacy in AI. As AI becomes more embedded in how we work, build, and express ourselves, we find ourselves sending increasing amounts of sensitive and deeply personal data to third parties, often without fully understanding where it goes, how it's stored, or how it's used.
The evening will start with pizza and mingling from 6:00 to 6:30pm, followed by discussion from 6:30 to 8:00pm.
Anthony Ronning of Maple AI (trymaple.ai) will begin with a short talk on why private AI matters and the range of approaches emerging across the stack, from local AI to traditional cloud-based tools to newer encrypted cloud approaches that use Trusted Execution Environments, or TEEs.
From there, we'll open it up into a broader interactive discussion, joined by Jesse Posner of Vora (vora.io), covering the evolving landscape of open source vs frontier models, security-first AI architecture, and what people can do today to better protect themselves and their users.
For those new to Builder, this is a monthly gathering for people who like to build, from product managers, designers, and engineers to founders, entrepreneurs, and curious AI tinkerers.
The vibe is meant to feel like a builder jam. Jump in, ask questions, or come ready to riff. Hope to see you there!
