Degrees of change: heat, pregnancy, and the systems we need
Hosts: Project Dandelion, in partnership with Kite Insights and Wellcome Trust
Rising heat is placing new and growing pressure on maternal health worldwide. Evidence shows that exposure to high temperatures during pregnancy can significantly increase risks for both mothers and babies, particularly in communities already facing vulnerability.
This interactive, movement-based session, hosted by Wellcome, Project Dandelion and Kite Insights, invites participants to explore the issue through a systems lens. Blending science, storytelling and lived experience, the session will examine how health systems, cities, infrastructure and policy frameworks must evolve to respond to this emerging challenge.
Participants will be invited to step into the system, reflect on the roles they occupy within it, and consider how research, practice and policy can work together to accelerate solutions. Inspired by the systems thinking of Donella Meadows, the session will explore how change often begins when people see their place within a system more clearly and recognise where leverage for change lies.
The goal is simple: to build momentum for a global response that protects pregnancy in a warming climate.
