Global Game Jam @ Walkthrough
This a cozy Global Game Jam site, hosted by Interactive Arts Alberta at the Walkthrough Collaborative Centre (WCC). We are located on Whyte Avenue @ 10345 82 Avenue NW! The WCC is donation-based interactive arts community hub, and a place of belonging for game developers and interactive artists of all sorts. Whether you bring a pre-made team or want to meet some new game developers at the WCC, come join our community! And although solo developers are welcome, we encourage you to work together. This is an in-person only event, but is open to any and all game developers including board game/tabletop game designers. Importantly, as we are committed to anti-crunch culture and healthy ways of working, we will be closing the space overnight. That said, we won't stop you from going home and working into the night if that's what floats your boat!
ACCESS & TRANSPORTATION
If you take public transit, the WCC has a bus stop conveniently located directly in front of the building.
If you drive, there are different parking options available:
Free parking is available in residential areas a few blocks away (e.g. by the Evangelical Fellowship Church, on 78 Ave. behind the Save-on-Foods).
Paid parking via hourly meters or licence plate entry is available by Drizzle Ice Cream, on Whyte Ave. proper, or at the South Scona Parking Lot.
We will note that we are a walk-up space on the second floor, and that there is no elevator access.
FOOD & BEVERAGE
Light refreshments and snacks will be provided on site at no charge. However, our selection will be limited, so if you have specific dietary needs, please come prepared. We also encourage you to bring your own water bottles, which can be filled up in our kitchen. As well, our kitchen is equipped with a fridge, two microwaves, and a toaster oven. Please refrain from bringing foods that trigger common allergies such as peanuts.
As we are on Whyte Ave., you will have access to a dizzying array of food options that fit your tastes and dietary needs.
EQUIPMENT
Jammers will need to bring their own laptops, power bars, extension cords, monitors, keyboards, mice, and controllers.
