​What happens when you combine AI, logic puzzles, and a city-wide scavenger hunt?

​Welcome to Codescape: a fast-paced, one-day AI competition where digital problem-solving meets real-world exploration.

​Teams of 2-4 will race against the clock to solve AI-powered challenges using prompt engineering and creative reasoning. Each solution unlocks a new physical location, guiding you to the next stage of the competition. Think Capture-the-Flag energy, but powered by conversational AI and collaborative strategy.

​Unlike traditional hackathons, Codescape emphasizes speed, logic, and teamwork over long project builds. You don’t need prior AI experience to compete. If you can think critically and ask good questions, you’re ready. For more advanced participants, optional higher-difficulty challenges will push your technical and strategic limits.

​We’re welcoming 200 undergraduate students across Waterloo (University of Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier University, and surrounding institutions), along with a limited number of exceptional high school students interested in AI.

​Codescape is designed to lower barriers to entry, foster collaboration across disciplines, and showcase how AI can be applied creatively beyond the classroom.
