Keepers of the Forest
At Keepers XR, we believe in the power of collective knowledge to shape our shared future. Inspired by the urgency to preserve both institutional and living archives, and vernacular wisdom, we present "Keepers of the Forest."
Set in the forests of the Virungas, this experience celebrates the Batwa as vital stewards of ancient forests, whose knowledge is both ancient and boundless. We reimagine African museums as living spaces—forest trails, homesteads, and hidden hives—activated through immersive technologies.
Step into a transformed gallery, a "hacked environment" built from fire-scorched clay, fallen leaves, and earth, reimagined as interactive 3D homesteads, digital fashion, and augmented reality. XR becomes a portal to intangible heritage: spatial soundscapes invite you to dance with characters like Mugurisi, AR sculptures bloom into herbal gardens, and sustainable design echoes in every detail.
More than observation, we invite the indulgence of co-creation. As you explore each chapter—gathering honey, honoring burial trees, trekking to Bwindi—you participate in both tradition and innovation. Every interaction is an act of conservation, a reminder that our relationship with nature is dynamic and ever-evolving.
In Keepers of the forest, teleportation through VR opens an exciting experience where identity is performed, heritage is multisensory, and the forest's stories become our own beyond the limits of space and time.
