Join Climate Finance Solutions for a focused, 45-minute expert briefing on newly published Horizon Europe and Circular Bio-based Europe (CBE JU) funding opportunities for teams working across bio-based materials, biotechnology, biomanufacturing, and circular bioeconomy value chains.

Across the current work programmes, more than €335M is available for bio-based research and innovation projects spanning TRLs 4–8, from early-stage system development through to industrial-scale demonstration. Award sizes range from €3–38M per project, with the majority of topics supporting €6–14M grants.

Across the 29 bio-based topics, the most relevant opportunity clusters include:

  • Bio-based materials, chemicals, and polymers (including SSbD approaches for packaging, fibres, chemicals, and functional materials)

  • Biotechnology and biomanufacturing (including food/ag, biorefineries, residual biomass valorisation, and novel bioprocesses)

  • Circularity and substitution of substances of concern (including upcycling, SSbD, and regulatory-relevant innovation)

  • Bioeconomy systems and enabling actions (such as biomass flows, benchmarking, governance, and societal uptake)

What This Session Will Help You Assess

  • How current Horizon Europe and CBE JU topics align with your technology maturity and development roadmap

  • Whether your consortium structure, partner mix, and roles meet evaluator expectations

  • How to demonstrate credible TRL progression and industrial relevance within proposal constraints

  • Which opportunity clusters best fit your technical focus and deployment ambition

Who Should Attend

  • Teams developing bio-based materials, biotechnologies, and biomanufacturing solutions across TRLs 4–8

  • Consortium leads, R&D managers, and innovation teams assessing Horizon Europe or CBE JU participation

  • Organisations working across circular bioeconomy value chains, from feedstock to downstream application
