Alan Fisher is a Lead Scientist at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, where he has worked for 32 years. His expertise is beam-diagnostic instrumentation: measuring the size, duration, position, and timing of electron and positron bunches in accelerators. His work has also included the laser systems that create ultrashort electron bunches and the diagnostics that support SLAC’s free-electron lasers.
Fisher earned undergraduate degrees in physics and electrical engineering, followed by a Ph.D. in physics, from MIT. His career has included Stanford, Brookhaven National Laboratory, and visiting-scientist appointments at CERN, DESY, HZDR, and KEK.
We will meet at Starbucks in Sharon Heights (address specified) and take a 30-person van to SLAC.
