About Event

Join our first open evening at Foresight Institute's new Berlin AI Node at CIC Berlin.

First chance to see the space and infrastructure coming online soon (including private on-premise compute). Early overview of projects Foresight will support in 2026.

What to Expect

6:00, doors open

6:30, Short tour of CIC Berlin and node space.

6:45, Foresight Node intro + Q&A on project focus areas (AI for science/safety), access process, and 2026 roadmap: ie our Berlin workshop July 18-19 .

7:00, Scene-setting from close ecosystem partners we’re excited to build alongside in 2026 — including DWeb Camp, Internet Archive Europe, and our neighbours Aethos.

This will be a short introduction to their work, what’s coming up this year (ie DWeb Camp’s Berlin gathering in July), and how our communities intersect around decentralized infrastructure, open knowledge, and resilient AI systems.

7:30, Internet Archive founder & digital librarian Brewster Kahle will share reflections on the longtime alliance between IA, DWeb and Foresight, as the pioneering San Francisco institutions evolve toward a deeper focus in Europe — while continuing to support each other in shared missions advancing collective intelligence, ethical frontier technologies and interdependence

7:45, Live set from local Berlin collective Y radio, drinks (alcoholic + non-alcoholic), and time to connect.

Who Should Join
Researchers, builders, grant managers, institute leads working in frontier science and emerging technology, particularly AI safety, science applications, and decentralized infrastructure.

Event Series

  • Node 0 Open House (March 1): first-ever space introduction

  • Node 1 Open House (March 19): Follow-up conversations

  • Node Launch (April 1): Official public launch

Free, limited capacity. RSVPs confirmed individually.

P.S. we are in the early stages of setting up a decentralised physical book library! Do you have a frontier science/tech themed book you’d be willing to let live at our node for a bit? BRING IT with you! More info on this tomorrow.

About Our Ecosystem Partners:

DWeb Camp is dedicated to building tools for real world problems, including censorship resistance, identity for the stateless, and sovereignty over our data. DWeb is an independent project founded by the nonprofit Internet Archive, which since 2026 has gathered thousands of builders, researchers, activists, artists, educators and families to connect deeply, learn together, and have fun as we build systems that actualize the principles of trust, human agency, mutual respect, and ecological awareness.

Internet Archive Europe is a project by the Dutch non-profit research library Stichting Internet Archive. It is building collections and tools to bring them to life. Working with libraries, museums, and archives, we share these tools and collections to further everyone’s services.

Æthos is a global hub for AI innovators, based in Cambridge—right across from MIT at CIC—and in Berlin. In our vibrant, collaborative co-working space, we provide AI startups with tools, knowledge, resources, and opportunities with top expertise from leading researchers and thought leaders at MIT, Harvard, and Fraunhofer, as well as VCs, engineers, and ethicists, to help them build more responsible solutions.
