"Touching the Earth" by bell hooks
We will gather in the beauty of this community garden to read and discuss selections from bell hooks.

Facilitator: Ashia Ajani, Storyteller and Environmental Educator
Join us for an early evening to read "Touching the Earth" by bell hooks. Together, we will explore her powerful insights on nature, healing, and interconnectedness.
Bring your favorite mug, an open mind, and a desire to connect deeply with others. Additional text copies will be on-site, or bring your own filled with notes. Light refreshments and snacks will be provided.

Who's invited?
Anyone with an interest in learning about bell hooks' writings, bookish community, and/or wanting a mindful shift towards environmental + racial justice.
What about parking?
Parking near the event is highly accessible, relying primarily on free, non-metered street parking. Visitors can easily find plenty of open curb space on the immediate surrounding residential blocks. Ideal options include Oregon Street (around the corner near the farm extension) and Stanton Street. Most of these neighborhood streets are free but typically carry a 2-hour limit for non-residents, which provides plenty of time for plant shopping or a quick volunteering shift.
What about accessibility?
The grounds feature unpaved, uneven, or earthen paths that can be tight to navigate or muddy during wet weather. Parts of the plant nursery and the adjacent community garden plot may have narrow passages or rough ground surfaces. There is no dedicated large parking lot or formal modern ADA restroom facility on site.

Is this a paid ticketed event?
No, this is a free event for BIPOC identifying people. However, donations are welcomed to support the venue hosts.
