Handpan Playshop! For Beginners

The Handpan is a magical type of instrument originated from the steelpan that captivates the listener with a strong hypnotic attraction and has a unique ethereal vibe to its tone. This is for you if you love the sound of the handpan & have dreamed of playing one. No music experience required & Handpans are provided! If you have your own please bring it! Also - if this day & time does not work for you - I also do 1 on 1 classes or small private group classes at your convenience.
The handpan is considered to be one of the most advanced and unique acoustic musical instruments invented in the 21st century since it provides the ability to produce harmony, melody and rhythm all at once!
Some of the great benefits obtained from drumming are being aware of your body - the connection between movement, rhythm, energy and the ability to focus, which is essential for any activity in our lives is part of the practice. Playing the handpan is a healing experience both for the player and the recipient - pair that with being immersed in nature and you're in for a really nourishing treat.

SCHEDULE (this is a general idea of the format but the times may change depending on when we actually start, please do your best to arrive a little early)
12:45-1PM Arrival
1PM - Guided Meditation & intention setting
1PM - Introduction/Demo by Misty
1:20PM - Pick your Handpan!
1:30PM - Rhythm and Technique lesson
2:00PM - Solo practice time in nature. Misty will go around to each person during this time to conduct 1 on 1 support.
2:45PM - Share with group what you practiced (optional) + Closing circle
3pm - Drinks & healthy snacks + socializing at the end =)

A little about me:
Misty Marie Tomasino aka “Mystic Rhythms” was born & raised in San Diego, CA and has been playing music since middle school and began sharing professionally in her early 20's when she lived in Costa Rica for 8yrs helping build an intentional community / Eco Village. With over a decade of music experience & spiritual practice she blends her wisdom & talents into a unique path. She's a self-taught multi-instrumentalist sound healer & sacred song carrier and since 2019, Misty has been strongly called into plant medicine ceremonies. First as a participant then quickly invited in as a guardian & musical support for various groups within southern california. She has found this to be one of the most rewarding ways of sharing her gifts. Guided by the rhythm of her heart; Misty dedicates her music to Great Spirit, Mother Earth, and the Human Heart, creating environments for deep healing, peace, and ecstatic joy.
