About Event

The vine does not mourn winter. It simply waits — and when the time comes, it climbs.

Some evenings are made for going out. This one is made for arriving — at a table, at a glass, at the people sitting beside you.

Green Vine is the third movement in Ivy Hermit's seasonal series with local artists and musicians — three evenings, three seasons, one continuous thread: live music and camelia sinensis. After Blue Autumn surrendered its leaves and Seeking Cherry Blossom in Winter Silence sat with the cold, spring arrives — not with fanfare, but with the quiet, unstoppable insistence of something green pushing through stone. A sad party. A hopeful misery. A renewed life.

An Evening at Green Vine

8:00 – 8:25 PM — Arrive & Wander
Let the night unfold slowly. Mingle, sip, and settle into the ambiance.

8:25 PM — First Set: Dragonwell Echo Green Tea
Crisp and verdant, like spring rain on stone — the evening finds its voice.

8:55 PM — Intermission
Pause. Breathe. Let the leaves steep a little longer.

9:10 PM — Second Set: Gilded Veil Yellow Tea
Warm, layered, and luminous — the night reaches its quiet peak.

9:30 PM — The Evening Rests
We gather what remains and carry the memory home.

✦ The Name
Ivy Hermit is a pen name in three parts — each one a quiet bow to Xu Wei (徐渭), the 16th century Ming Dynasty Chinese painter, poet, and playwright who remains one of the most untamed artistic spirits in Chinese history.

Xu Wei tended a green vine outside his studio — 青藤 · Qīng Téng. Those who revered him began to call him 青藤道士 · the Daoist of the Green Vine. In Chinese culture, a name given by others is not a label — it is an honor. It means you have moved people deeply enough that they needed a new title for you.

Ivy carries 青藤 — the vine that clings, climbs, and outlasts the wall it grows on.

Hermit carries 山人 · Shān Rén — the one who withdraws from the noise to see more clearly.
Together, they are not a brand name. They are an inheritance.

✦ Time Is the Ingredient
Ivy Hermit is a modern lifestyle ritual— built around artisanal, small-batch cold brew tea steeped for hours, never minutes. In a city that never stops — where slow is mistaken for lost — Ivy Hermit holds a single conviction: slow is not falling behind. Slow is how things become what they are.

🎷 Live Jazz · Edwin Corne & Adam Cordero

Edwin Corne leads the vine. Born in Hong Kong, raised in Shanghai, rooted in Queens — a Juilliard and New School trained jazz guitarist whose warm, lyrical touch honors jazz tradition while embracing a spirit of discovery. On this night, his guitar is the vine: patient, reaching, alive.

Adam Cordero answers. A Queens-born saxophonist whose sound has filled Smalls Jazz Club, Dizzy's, The Jazz Gallery, and Carnegie Hall. A National YoungArts Foundation Winner whose playing is "lush, soaring, and healing."

Together, they don't just perform — they respond. To the room. To the tea. To the ink as it flows.

🍵 The Spring Pairing

Three pairings. Keep it slow.

① Dragonwell Echo · Green Tea — The cup of arrival. Clean, grassy, alive with spring rain on stone.

② Gilded Veil · Yellow Tea — The middle cup. Soft, honeyed, unhurried. Sip as the music deepens.

③ Jasmine Raw Puer Resin — The closing cup. Ancient, floral, quietly untamed. It arrives last because the best things always do.

This is not a performance you watch. It is a season you pass through together.
