About Event

Will Sheridan and Brandon Pietras, of Bernheimer Architecture, will discuss their work at Penn South—a midcentury limited-equity housing cooperative completed by Herman Jessor and Gerhard Graupe in Chelsea. Sheridan and Pietras will delve into their cooperation with the AFL-CIO Housing Investment Trust and Ambur Nicosia, board president at Penn South, and how Bernheimer Architecture is rehabbing the co-op for Local Law 97 compliance, and the challenges related to restoring midcentury campuses by the UHF more broadly.

This event is an extension of the exhibition JESSOR: The Architecture of The Limited-Equity Cooperative Movement in New York 1925-1974 currently on view at Citygroup.
