Career Catalyst | From Bench to Business
From Bench to Business: Turning Chemistry & Materials Science into Scalable Impact
Scientific training doesn’t have to stop at the lab bench. In this webinar, Aalliyeh Clinton, along with our host and Career Catalyst Ambassador for the Biomanufacturing Track, Paris McKenzie, will explore how deep technical expertise in chemistry and material science can become the foundation for manufacturable products, defensible IP, and scalable companies.
Through real-world examples, we’ll discuss how biomanufacturing knowledge creates leverage; opening doors to greater autonomy, influence, and long-term impact across STEM careers. We’ll also take an honest look at what it means to build while learning: growing a company in real time while balancing research, funding, regulatory, and requirements.
Whether you’re a scientist considering commercialization, an entrepreneur in the early stages, or simply curious, this session will offer practical insight into the path from discovery to scale.
You’ll walk away with:
How chemistry and materials science expertise becomes manufacturable products, defensible IP, and real-world impact.
Why manufacturing knowledge unlocks autonomy, influence, and long-term career power in STEM and biotech.
What it actually takes to grow a company in real time, balancing research, funding, compliance, and community without waiting for "perfect timing."
Who Should Attend
This session is for:
Professionals who want to lean into curiosity as a career strategy
Scientists considering commercialization
Entrepreneurs
About the Host
Paris McKenzie
Paris is a multidisciplinary leader whose work bridges beauty, biotechnology, and fabrication with uncommon depth and resolve. Born in Brooklyn, New York to Jamaican parents, she relocated to Maryland alone at 17 to pursue college after graduating high school early. She currently serves as a Biotechnology Support Technician and Manufacturing Technician II at Longeviti Neuro Solutions, where she supports medical device manufacturing and cross-functional technical workflows, translating complex systems into precise, real-world outcomes.
Before entering the medical device industry, Paris built and scaled businesses in the beauty sector, earning national recognition for her work and vision. Her story and impact have been featured by Teen Vogue, People Magazine, The New York Post, Fox Business, and more. Rather than abandoning that world, she carried its lessons forward, demonstrating that creativity and scientific rigor are not contradictions, but complementary forms of discipline.
Her academic journey reflects the same refusal to quit. After mental health struggles early in college, resulting in a 0.38 GPA, Paris rebuilt her footing and ultimately earned her bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Health and Human Sciences on time, completing an accelerated 43 credits in a single semester. Now rooted in biomanufacturing, she is committed to widening access to pathways she once had to discover alone. Through leadership, mentorship, and education, Paris works to ensure others, especially young people, know that industries like biomanufacturing exist, and that they never have to shrink themselves to fit one box to belong.
About the Speaker
Aalliyeh Clinton, MSE
Aalliyeh Clinton is a materials science engineer and entrepreneur from Baltimore, Maryland, building at the intersection of science, manufacturing, and ownership. She is the Founder and CEO of Monneah’s Engineered Materials, an advanced textile manufacturing company developing sustainable, high-performance personal protective equipment (PPE) for STEM professionals.
With a foundation in chemistry from Morgan State University and advanced training in materials science and engineering, Aalliyeh has translated bench-level research into a patent-pending proprietary material, secured a trademark, and partnered with multiple life science companies to commercialize her work. She has raised over $70,000 in non-dilutive funding, competed in more than 15 pitch competitions, and earned placements in national accelerator programs.
Beyond manufacturing, Aalliyeh is deeply committed to STEM education and workforce development, founding “Cool Nerds on the Rise,” a youth initiative that has reached over 300 students through hands-on science, mentorship, and career exposure. Her work reflects a broader mission: moving scientific talent from the lab into scalable, real-world impact through biomanufacturing and entrepreneurship.
