Digital Culture Corner: From Messaging to Worldbuilding
Climate doesn’t need to be louder. It needs to get closer.
During San Francisco Climate Week, Amber Matters is hosting a live Digital Culture Corner, a workshop designed to help founders, communicators, funders, and creatives move from broadcasting climate messages to building story worlds that invite people in.
This gathering is a sandbox.
We’ll explore how to seed ideas that travel through culture across media, events, and everyday life, so that climate becomes something people feel and climate solutions become irresistibly desirable.
What We’ll Do Together
This 60-minute session will walk through the Amber Matters Story Systems mindset grounded in research, creative practice, and real-world climate examples.
You’ll learn how to:
Shift from push → pull storytelling
Design ideas built to travel (mimetic storytelling)
Use wonder as a strategic advantage
Build participation instead of chasing awareness
We’ll ground the workshop with live examples from ClimateTech organizations workshopping how their narrative could evolve from campaign-based marketing to a living story system.
You’ll Receive
A digital Story Systems workbook (sent after the session)
New lenses for walking through the rest of SF Climate Week
An invitation into ongoing Culture Corner gatherings
A Lens for the Rest of Climate Week
After this session, you won’t just attend events. You’ll start noticing:
Where stories are being pushed vs. invited
Where climate feels abstract vs. intimate
Where communities are treated as targets vs. collaborators
We’ll give you simple ways to move through the rest of the week actively spotting narrative leverage points, participation rituals, and culture-building openings in real time.
Why This Matters
Research shows people don’t change because of information alone. They change when climate becomes close.
As outlined in our whitepaper, When Climate Becomes Close, coherence of feeling now matters as much as clarity of fact. Climate moves when it feels steady, familiar, and human.
This workshop translates that research into practice.
Format
Live digital workshop
Interactive exercises + breakout reflection
Real-world climate example
Open Q&A
Optional in-person meetups throughout the week
Come Curious
This is the first of many small, intentional gatherings where climate meets media, culture, and community design.
We’re building a meadow. Not pruning a single tree.
