A Second Life Mercato
Join us at Calyx Studios for an afternoon of textiles, repair, and gathering.
We’re spending time with what we already have: worn garments, collected fabrics, old linens, scraps, and pieces that have been waiting for another life.
Sustain Frame will host an open mending table throughout the afternoon, offering guidance in patching, stitching, darning, and repair. Bring something from your closet that has been worn through or set aside, and work alongside others to give it a little more time.
Calyx Studios will be donating fabric for mending and making, offering materials to work with, experiment on, and transform.
We’ll also be joined by STILL GOOD, a Bedford-Stuyvesant community-led initiative rooted in the belief that we already have everything we need. Together, we’ll explore the possibilities of reuse and textile transformation—cutting, piecing, embellishing, and reimagining what might otherwise be discarded.
Alongside the mending and making, we’ll have a small Still Good Free Shop, with pre-loved clothing and books available to take home for free. There will also be a produce stand from M-W, bringing seasonal offerings to the gathering. Proceeds from the event will be donated to Still Good in support of their ongoing community work.
The afternoon will unfold slowly: a shared table, piles of fabric, needle and thread, music, warm drinks, seasonal food, and time to make and talk.
A gathering around the idea that nothing is quite finished.
Bring a textile to mend or transform, or come simply to spend the afternoon with us. All materials and skill levels are welcome.
