Climate Strides Event Series: A Daily Run/Walk "Panel" for Climate Action – FRIDAY
Come run or walk with us, and geek out on climate solutions! Free and open to all!
**A special meeting location for today** https://maps.app.goo.gl/wh75NE5ovu7JuSy7A
On our last day, Climate Strides heads south to Rivian's flagship showroom and community space in the Meatpacking District. In addition to partnering with Protect Our Winters as the presenting sponsor for this event series, on Friday we're also excited to team up with Rivian. We share similar values, like harnessing the adventurous human spirit, that we already have everything we need to create change, and that exploring and connecting with the outdoors motivates us to protect it. And we both agree that it’s important to help as many people as possible see themselves as outdoor adventurers, making adventure as inclusive as possible.
You can expect the same thoughtful event design, just in a new part of town. Come for the climate education and connection, stay for coffee and an optional Rivian test drive!
How does it work?
Runners and walkers will gather at 8:00 a.m. at the Rivian flagship space on W 14th St. We will kick off the event hearing from a few speakers. Then, we'll move outside together along the Hudson River Greenway on the west side of Manhattan. Our team will offer prompts for meaningful connection among attendees about your own climate journeys. Then, we'll conclude back at the Rivian flagship space to hear from a few more speakers, enjoy some coffee, and wrap up a phenomenal Climate Week. We'll finish by 9:30 a.m.
Optional: sign up for a 15 min test drive of a Rivian vehicle! Link: https://rivian.com/demo-drive/book?locationId=01b7d4f5-1bf0-4f92-936b-26dfd6775995
Why this design?
Together, with partners new and existing, we will hear from a wide variety of speakers to expand our thinking around climate solutions. We believe our run/walk format “breaks” the traditional panel model in a refreshing way. Plenty of research shows that moving our bodies outside fuels our creative thinking. We merge physical movement, storytelling, intentional connection, and civic on-ramps in a way no static indoor panel can.

More About WTCTA
Where The Climate Things Are is a media and event series working to build an inclusive climate movement in the outdoor community. There is so much incredible work and experience in all corners of the world of outdoor enthusiasts, and if we’ve learned one thing studying and working on environmental issues, it’s that sharing positive, solutions-oriented stories and personal experiences is often the biggest unlock to encouraging broader environmental action. We don’t do doomsday, guilt or shame here -- we uplift solutions-oriented work, talk about existing issues and challenges, and discuss where we need to go, together.
