Climate Strides Event Series: A Daily Run/Walk "Panel" for Climate Action – TUESDAY
Come run or walk with us and geek out on climate solutions! Free and open to all!
Meeting location: https://maps.app.goo.gl/8Q5tRwiLExkS4xF87
What is it?
Climate Strides returns to Central Park for FIVE EVENTS over the course of NYC Climate Week, turning the green heart of New York City into a connection hub designed to thoughtfully catalyze climate action. We want YOU to join us for one or multiple mornings!
We are lucky to have Protect Our Winters as the returning sponsor for all five events. Some mornings, we may also have other special co-hosts and partner orgs to spotlight.
How does it work?
Each morning from Monday, September 22 through Friday, September 26, runners and walkers gather at 8:00 a.m. along the bridle path that encircles the reservoir. Runners go one way around the reservoir, and walkers go the other way. When we all intersect, we pause for a few minutes to hear from a couple of speakers from all walks of climate life. We continue to move in between speakers, and we offer prompts for discussion and meaningful connection among attendees about your own climate journey. We'll wrap up by 9:30 a.m.
Why this design?
By returning to the same iconic outdoor spot every day, we create a sense of ritual, accessibility, and community momentum. Most NYC Climate Week events bounce between indoor venues; Climate Strides stays anchored in one beloved public space, making it easy for New Yorkers (and visiting Climate Week delegates) to drop in repeatedly, intentionally meet new people, and hear from a wide variety of speakers to expand our thinking around climate solutions. We believe our run/walk format “breaks” the traditional panel model, merging movement, storytelling, and civic on-ramps in a way no static indoor panel can.
Today’s Speakers:
_Will Butler (Unreasonable)
_Mali'o Kodis (Environmental Defense Fund)
_Khanh Vu (International Rescue Committee)
_Kate Hofman (Co-Founder, Pesto & GrowUp Farms)
...and more!

Logistics:
–We plan to meet rain or shine, so plan accordingly! (unless severe weather is in the forecast)
–The run option for this event is extremely chill – this is more about connection than cardio. We encourage folks with a specific workout in mind to run either before or after the event.
–Please note: there is no bag drop, so plan to carry your items while you run or walk.
–We intend to start and end on time to respect YOUR time!
–Our meeting location (which some may know as the water fountain along the reservoir) is most easily accessed via the 1 and C subway lines to west 86th street.
More About WTCTA
Where The Climate Things Are is a media and event series working to build an inclusive climate movement in the outdoor community. There is so much incredible work and experience in all corners of the world of outdoor enthusiasts, and if we’ve learned one thing studying and working on environmental issues, it’s that sharing positive, solutions-oriented stories and personal experiences is often the biggest unlock to encouraging broader environmental action. We don’t do doomsday, guilt or shame here -- we uplift solutions-oriented work, talk about existing issues and challenges, and discuss where we need to go, together.
