Destech Studio: How to Design Better Products and Use AI for Visualization
The best products start with a deep understanding of the people they're for. Then they find a clear place in the market and a way to show others what they could become.
In this hands-on DesTech Studio session, you'll work through three stages of product thinking, then use generative AI to turn your ideas into visuals you can test, share, and refine.
***A laptop is a must for this workshop.
What we'll cover
Discovering with empathy: Build user personas, understand your core user group, and look at your product through the user's eyes. We'll explore the relationship between people and the products they use, and where the real problems and opportunities sit.
Positioning an idea: Study existing products and competitors, including the aspirational products your users admire. Learn what works, what can be improved, and how to define a value proposition that doesn't reinvent the wheel.
Communicating a concept: Use AI prompting to visualise your product's materials, function, and emotional value. Iterate on prototypes quickly and turn a rough idea into something others can react to.

Students, entrepreneurs, and makers at any stage. No design or AI experience needed. Bring a product idea, or come ready to explore one.

DesTech Studio is an experiential learning program from COIE | Centennial Innovates that teaches students and entrepreneurs to use generative AI for product development, brand storytelling, and futures thinking.

About the Hosts
Facilitated by the Team at Center of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (COIE), Centennial Innovates at Centennial College
Sunidhi Naik from COIE is a Toronto-based Experience Designer working at the intersection of space, technology, and storytelling. With a background in architecture and a Master of Design in Digital Futures from OCAD University, she creates immersive experiences using AI, XR, and interactive media. She also leads design and technology initiatives through the Destech Studio at Centennial College’s Centre of Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
