About Event

Overview

The Decentralized Coding Workshop (DeCo) is a first-of-its-kind gathering of researchers advancing the science of network coding, erasure coding, and distributed systems. Co-hosted by Optimum, MIT, and Georgia Tech, this intimate workshop brings together approximately a dozen leading voices to share cutting-edge research and foster collaboration across academia and Web3.

​Over two days at MIT's campus, speakers will present their latest work while attendees engage in deep technical discussions about the future of decentralized infrastructure. From theoretical advances in random linear network coding to practical applications in blockchain networks, DeCo creates space for the ideas that will shape the next generation of internet protocols.

​This inaugural workshop is designed for researchers, protocol developers, and technical leaders working at the intersection of coding theory and decentralized systems. If you are interested in attending but do not have a deep understanding of decentralized coding, Optimum CEO and Co-Founder Muriel Médard will be presenting an in-person crash course on decentralized coding, Sunday, March 22nd. When you register, please indicate whether you plan to attend the crash course as it will be schedule according to attendee interest!

DeCo will kick off with welcoming remarks from Muriel Médard, CEO and Co-founder of Optimum and NEC Chair of Software Science and Engineering at MIT and Sriram Vishwanath, Professor and the Ken Byers Chair at Georgia Tech. Then, we will enjoy two days of presentations of groundbreaking research from 15 of the world's leading researchers, innovators and decentralized coding experts.
