With approximately 85 higher education institutions offering AI and machine learning programs, North Africa has a strong educational foundation for producing talent. Recent developments, such as Morocco's adoption of ChatGPT Edu, Tunisia's new data centers, and Egypt graduating 1,300 professionals from its national AI programs, highlight the region's commitment.
However, these investments are at risk if the talent cultivated cannot be retained. The primary challenge is no longer just developing talent but creating a sustainable ecosystem with compelling career opportunities, competitive compensation, and pathways for growth that can rival international offers.
