"A San Francisco CHINA Town Hall" will take place on Tuesday, April 7th, 2026, from 3:30 pm - 5:45 pm PT, at the offices of Nixon Peabody, 1 Embarcadero Center, 32nd Floor, San Francisco, CA 94111.
Produced by the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations (NCUSCR), a New York-based nonprofit organization, the CHINA Town Hall (CTH) provides a snapshot of the current U.S.-China relationship and examines how that relationship reverberates at the local level – in our towns, states, and nation – connects people around the country with U.S. policymakers and thought leaders on China.
Since CTH launched in 2007, the NCUSCR has proudly partnered with a range of institutions and civic groups, colleges and universities, trade and business associations, world affairs councils, and think tanks to convene town halls and bring this important national conversation to local communities around America (and a few overseas).
The 2026 CHINA Town Hall program will take place on Tuesday, April 7th, at 3:30 pm PT. The program will begin with a national webcast disussion featuring Stephen Biegun, former U.S. deputy secretary of state, and Sarah Beran, former deputy chief of mission at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing and former senior director for China and Taiwan affairs at the White House National Security Council.
An in-person panel discussion will follow the Keynote webcast featuring the following Bay Area academic and business leaders:
• David Kaufman, Director of Global Strategies, Nixon Peabody, LLP
• Ker Gibbs, Executive in Residence at the University of San Francisco’s Center for Asia Pacific Studies and Author of The Fragile Dragon: Trade, Trump, and China’s Vulnerabilities
• Moderator: Aaron Rose, Board Chair, Silicon Valley Forum
Attendance of the in-person event is free, but pre-registration is required.
