Abandoned Places And Ghost Town Tour 👻✨
🏚️ Ontario's Abandoned History: A Three-Site Ghost Town Tour
Come join Yes Toronto on an adventure into the past as we explore the forgotten history of Ontario. On this guided tour, we will journey through three significant historic sites located near Bowmanville that have been reclaimed by time.
📍 The Journey
We will be visiting three distinct locations, each with its own unique "frozen-in-time" atmosphere:
• Camp 30: A former WWII POW camp for high-ranking German officers with multiple original, decaying brick structures.
• Wesleyville: A quiet, "failed" port town featuring an abandoned schoolhouse and historic church.
• Brougham: A heritage hamlet where grand 19th-century homes sit empty, halted by decades of government bureaucracy.
📅 Event Details
• Date: April 11th
• Time: 12:00 PM – 7:00 PM
• Cost: $15 per person (Covers food and gas for the group)
🧣 What to Bring & Wear
These sites are often exposed to the elements and involve walking through unmaintained terrain.
• Dress Warmly: March in Ontario can be biting; please wear layers and a windproof jacket.
• Appropriate Footwear: Sturdy, waterproof boots are highly recommended for navigating overgrown paths and potentially muddy areas.
• Gear: Don’t forget your camera or phone—these sites are a photographer's dream!
We will be leaving at 12:30 PM sharp from York Mills station and plan to be back in the city for 7-8 PM. Plan is to have dinner together after. Commentary about the sites will be provided during the visits. Please call or text me at 647-524-7146 if you have any issues. Looking for people with cars to help carpool.
