Movies for the Planet: The Salt of the Earth, 2014
Welcome to Movies for the Planet!
Join us as we explore the magic of cinema together! Our events are all about bringing film lovers together to enjoy great movies and share the experience as a community. We also want them to spread awareness about environmental and societal issues, and motivate people to take action, even a small step, towards a better world.
Art, like music or movies, speaks not only to our brains, but also addresses our hearts and directly evokes emotions. And love, fear, hope, or anger frequently shape how people engage with action towards a sustainable future.
With this cosy community event, we are on a mission to inspire and empower environmentally-conscious individuals like you.
We organize the movie night every 3rd Friday of the month at 8 PM in LYCKA Buurtkamer in Amsterdam (near Sloterdijk station). After the screening, we often continue the evening with lively discussions after the film.
This month: The Salt of the Earth (2014), documentary.
During the last forty years, the photographer Sebastião Salgado has been travelling through the continents, in the footsteps of an ever-changing humanity. He has witnessed the major events of our recent history: international conflicts, starvations and exodus… He is now embarking on the discovery of pristine territories, of the wild fauna and flora, of grandiose landscapes: a huge photographic project which is a tribute to the planet's beauty. Salgado's life and work are revealed to us by his son, Juliano, who went with him during his last journeys, and by Wim Wenders, a photographer himself.
We will be happy to see you on the 18th of September at LYCKA Buurtkamer. The doors open at 19:45, the movie starts at 20:00 sharp.
Please bring snacks and drinks to share :)
