LOCUST LATE @ The DiLL: Create Animated Installation Art in the Spatial Internet by Ariel Baron-Robbins. Performance by Richard Moreno.
Join us for the penultimate DiLL of the 2025–26 season!
This month, Locust Projects welcomes interdisciplinary artist and educator Ariel Baron-Robbins for a workshop exploring how analog objects become virtual experiences, followed by an experimental live performance by visual and sound artist Richard Moreno. Artists of all skill levels are encouraged to #BYOL (Bring Your Own Laptop) and follow along. Please note that the 7pm workshop starts on time!
7pm Workshop: Ariel Baron-Robbins, Create Animated Installation Art in the Spatial Internet
Starting with paper, paint, and found textures, technologist, educator, and Loop Art Critique founder Ariel Baron-Robbins will guide participants through the process of transforming handmade artwork into immersive digital zones by using digital scanning, 3D modeling, and XR platforms. This hands-on workshop allows participants to build animated installations, experiment with interactive software, and learn to translate creative ideas into dynamic digital environments, with the final collaborative results transported for experience both online and in VR within the MUDVERSE by MUD Foundation.
9pm Performance: Richard Moreno, Corpse Chrysalis Live (through the cabinet of curiosities)
Artist Richard Moreno transforms monumental sculpture into towering instruments that harness the dark pageantry of extreme metal. For his debut at the DiLL, Moreno brings a massive, wheeled crate sculpture that unfolds to reveal dual screens, high-powered subwoofers, and a fog-filled ritual site where four musicians perform plug directly into the installation. Earplugs will be provided free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis.
This event is free and open to the public, and presented as part of the Knight Foundation Digital Innovation Initiative at Locust Projects. Complimentary refreshments are available for guests aged 21 and older courtesy of our 2025–26 sponsors The Tank Brewing Co. and Topo Chico.
