Seapunk Studios is hosting a RIVERBANKS PLAYSHOP in Bangkok on Sep 5 (the day just after APFN).
RIVERBANKS is an open climate-fiction initiative (in conjunction with Bangkok Climate Action Week 2026) exploring the idea of ecoarchic, or nature-first, institutions, where nature is not just a resource or a stakeholder, but the boss.
Specifically the project imagines river-banks, or banks that are owned by and thus work for rivers (however / whomever-as we might imagine rivers and their interests).
What would these banks' missions and mandates be?
How would they organize?
What instruments and technologies would they employ?
What kinds of societies would they seek to infrastructure?
Playshop: An Instituion-Design Imagination Jam
The RIVERBANKS PLAYSHOP will be an imagination jam in which we playfully and imaginatively (but also nearfiction-rigorously) explore speculative institution designs for banks in service of rivers.
Part speculative institutional futures, part theater workshop, part fiction worldbuilding, and part more-than-human inhabitation-imagination, the Playshop will be a chance to co-imagine, populate, enliven, and inhabit a world our rivers would want — and the banks they might employ and deploy to enact it.
In the spirit of RIVERBANKS open climate fiction initiative, and in keeping with the 'punk' in Seapunk, there is no cost to participate (but if you're new, please share a bit about yourself as you register so we can ensure the day is accessible for all).
