About Event

The Business of Sustainability Initiative at Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business invites you to a Spring Speaker Series event, part of D.C. Climate Week, with Jennifer McIvor, vice president and chief environmental officer for Berkshire Hathaway Energy. Şafak Yücel, associate director of the Business of Sustainability Initiative and associate professor of operations management, will moderate the conversation on Berkshire Hathaway's global sustainability operations, strategy, and environmental policy.

McIvor is responsible for devising environmental policy and strategy for Berkshire Hathaway Energy's global operations, serving more than 13 million customers and end users. This includes innovative wind and wildlife permitting strategies for a growing renewable energy portfolio, as well as programs to benchmark and manage the environmental footprints of their company's operations.

McIvor represents Berkshire Hathaway Energy in a number of organizations: she serves as the current secretary, and prior chair, of the Renewable Energy Wildlife Institute; current chair of the American Clean Power Association's Federal Wildlife and Permitting committee; and current chair of the Energy and Wildlife Action Coalition Policy committee. She also serves on the president's council at The Crane Trust in Wood River, Nebraska. In addition, McIvor led MidAmerican Energy Company's environmental policy, strategy, and management programs from 2012 to 2018, and between 2008 to 2012 she held a number of environmental operations, compliance, and permitting roles.

McIvor earned a juris doctor from Vermont Law School, a master's degree in environmental management from the Yale School of the Environment, and a bachelor's degree in environmental studies from the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College at Florida Atlantic University.
