What Patients Think About AI in Health Care: Insights from California Focus Groups
Empowering safety net health organizations to harness AI for better patient outcomes, improved care provider experience and operational excellence
“AI in Action: Practical Applications for Safety Net Providers” is a monthly Zoom series, co-hosted by Center for Care Innovations and the Health AI Partnership, dedicated to exploring research and implementation of AI based solutions that address the unique challenges and opportunities within Federally Qualified Health Centers and safety net healthcare organizations, promoting equitable access and improved patient outcomes.
What Patients Think About AI in Health Care: Insights from California Focus Groups
As AI tools rapidly enter the healthcare space, patient trust will be critical to successful adoption—especially in safety-net settings. Join CHCF for a discussion of new qualitative research exploring how Californians, particularly low-income and historically underserved communities, perceive the use of AI in their care.
Based on 16 focus groups and 4 online bulletin boards with 172 participants across the state, this session will highlight what patients know about AI, what concerns they have, and what it will take for them to feel comfortable with its use. You’ll hear how respondents reacted to specific AI applications like ambient scribing, predictive analytics, and AI-driven triage, and what they want to see from providers and technology vendors.
This session will offer actionable insights to help ensure AI adoption is equitable, transparent, and patient-centered.
