Climate Capital in The Age of AI: Funding The Solutions That Matter, with the United Nations
NYC based United Nations Location; to be shared to confirmed attendees
Climate innovation is being shaped by two major forces: the urgent need to fund the technologies and infrastructure required to tackle climate challenges, and the extraordinary flow of capital towards AI. But the two do not always align neatly.
AI has the potential to accelerate climate innovation - from optimising energy systems and improving forecasting to accelerating materials discovery and increasing efficiency. At the same time, its own energy demand and infrastructure requirements are raising new questions around environmental impact.
So the more interesting question is not whether AI is “good” or “bad” for climate. It is where technology genuinely adds value and how founders, investors and institutions make better decisions about what should actually be funded.
LSE Generate and the United Nations will bring together a small group of founders, investors and leaders across climate, sustainability and emerging technology in New York for a conversation exploring where capital, climate and AI intersect.
Speakers to be confirmed shortly
We’ll bring together senior leaders & founders in the climate space to discuss:
What climate solutions actually need funding?
What should investors look for when assessing genuine impact?
When is AI genuinely necessary, and when is a simpler solution stronger?
How do we finance climate businesses with very different capital needs from traditional software?
Where can AI meaningfully accelerate climate innovation?
