About Event

The release of the Land Sector and Removals Standard (LSRS) in January 2026 marks a pivotal shift for carbon accounting in the Food and Beverage industry. As we move toward the January 1, 2027 effective date, companies must transition from the pilot draft guidance to a rigorous, high-level framework for quantifying land emissions and CO2 removals.

HowGood is offering a technical deep-dive with our lead Metrics Architect, Lizz Aspley, to walk through the specific implications of LSRS for F&B. This session is designed for sustainability leads and carbon accountants who need to understand how these updates impact their FLAG (Forest, Land, and Agriculture) targets and reporting infrastructure. We will break down the "Version 1.0" requirements and share how our platform is evolving to automate compliance.

We’ll cover the following, and will open the floor to questions as well.

  • What changes immediately under LSRS 1.0 — and what remains in flux.

  • How forestry exclusions impact wood and paper-based packaging accounting

  • The mechanics (and business implications) of mandatory sLUC discounting and land carbon leakage reporting

  • How to operationalize the new 5-year removals measurement-modeling-verification cycle

  • Integrating Carbon Opportunity Cost and emerging land-linked Scope 2 considerations into your reporting framework

If land emissions represent a material share of your footprint — and for most F&B companies, they do — this session will help you move from interpretation to implementation with confidence.
