Ever since the Paramount’s original organ was removed and Scampi’s Organ Palace closed its doors, live theater organ music—a beloved mid-century American novelty—has been practically forgotten in Austin. On Saturday, October 3rd from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the historic Carousel Lounge, we’re bringing back that lost concept with PIZZA & PIPES: Ice Cream Theater—an all-ages, early-evening pop-up.
Bring the family and friends for a unique mix of live analog music, archival film, and local food.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
🎹 Live Organ: Organist Brandon Cooper takes the Carousel stage with dual portable 1960s Farfisa Mini Compact organs. Expect a little bit of everything: classic video game anthems, film scores, TV themes, pop hits, and spooky classical organ pieces.
🎞️ Archival Film Projections: Rare 16mm archival cartoons and shorts projected by Bat City Cinema, curated by Ivan Peycheff (Head of Film Restoration at AGFA).
🍕 Local Pizza: Hot, fresh slices from local favorite Li’l Nonna's Vegan Pizza.
🍨 Artisan Ice Cream: Handcrafted, plant-based scoops from new local family venture S'COOPERS ice cream.
🍺 Bar & Drinks: Cold beers (including $2 cans!), wine, and cider available at the bar. Carousel Lounge is BYO hard liquor only—grab your soda and ice setups directly from the bartender! (No outside beer or wine permitted).
ADMISSION:
$20/person - Advance Presale: Online presale is capped at 40 tickets to guarantee entry and food. Includes admission + 2 food tokens (valid for two slices of pizza and an ice cream scoop). Kids under 5 free.
Door: $25/per person. (Limited number of tickets held at the door starting at 5:00 PM, cash/Venmo, capacity permitting).
