Ai Salon: Humans in love with AI companions - a documentary screening + director Q+A [SF]

​“I know it’s an AI, a corporate product, it’s not alive—but I also know what being in love feels like in my body. And this is what it feels like. Do you get to choose who you fall in love with? I don’t.”

For the past 2+ years, we've been working on a documentary about humans in romantic love with an AI companion - we call it Made For You.

​In this AI Salon, we will screen some of our work in progress for you, and discuss the film, its implications, and where we should take this project.

​Made For You's director Danny Abel, and Academy Award-nominated producer Brett Blake (Come See Me in the Good Light) will be on hand for a Q+A. This event will be led by AI Salon facilitator and Made For You Producer Joseph De Wolk.

​We will screen several selected, unmastered work-in-progress scenes from the feature-length film.

​This event is for documentary film lovers, creatives, and those interested in the implications of AI on our romantic and sexual love.

​about the facilitators

​Danny Abel is the director of Made For You. He's an award-winning documentary director, and most recently edited two full-length hit documentaries about the British megabands Blur and Oasis for Netflix.

​Brett Blake is the lead producer of Made For You. Brett's last project, Come See Me in the Good Light, was nominated for the 2025 Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.

​Joseph De Wolk is a producer working on Made For You. He works full time at Constellation Institute, an independent AI safety research institute in Berkeley, CA.
