About Event

Welcome to our Greater Boston Harvard Museum Exhibit Visit for October 2025!

Our October event will be a visit to the Peabody Museum at Harvard University. We will be experiencing the exhibit Castaway: The Afterlife of Plastic, which transforms plastic debris collected along the shores of Queensland, Western Australia, and Tasmania into thought-provoking works of art including photographs, artifacts, maps, and charts. Presented in Spanish and English, Castaway invites us to reflect on the environmental and cultural legacy of plastic and our responsibility for its “afterlife.”

Host: This event will be organized by WAC City Lead Olivia LaRoche

Venue: Peabody Museum of Archeology & Ethnology, 11 Divinity Ave, Cambridge, MA

Logistics:

Agenda: Bring yourself and a willingness to learn and make new friends! All attendees will be emailed a meeting location day-of. After we view the exhibit we may have a short debrief conversation to hear folks’ responses to the artwork and discuss!

This event is open to all women & nonbinary folks interested in sustainability, whether you have attended many of our events or none at all.

Tickets: The Peabody Museum charges $15 for admission. Each attendee will pay for their own ticket, which can be purchased on site.

RSVP: Required to receive event updates. If your plans change, please cancel via Luma to aid our planning (preferably 24-48 hours in advance). Thank you!

Getting There: Harvard is accessible by several forms of public transport. It has it’s own MBTA stop on the red line, and many bus lines, including the 1, 66, 68, 69, 71, 73, 74, 75, 77, 78, 86, and 96. Cambridge also has fantastic bike lanes and pedestrian accessibility.

Networking: After the event, we will share contact details of attendees who opt to be included in this list (see the registration questions for more details).
