What is Reclaimed?
For decades, Black women have been told that beauty comes at a cost. But what if that cost is our health? Reclaimed is a documentary that exposes the truth about synthetic braiding hair and shares what happens when we demand better.
Reclaimed is a mid-length documentary that follows the journey of creating Rebundle, the first brand in the United States to create plant-based braiding hair. It explores the health risks associated with synthetic hair products and amplifies the voices of women who are speaking out and reclaiming their power. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion between Ciara Imani May–founder of Rebundle, Myesha Evon–Director of Reclaimed, and Dr. Elissia Franklin–Analytical Chemist & Exposure Scientist at Silent Spring Institute.
