​As AI scales, the decisions shaping its environmental and social footprint are being made without sustainability expertise in the room. This session makes the case for why that has to change: sustainability professionals belong in AI governance bodies, not as observers but as co-decision-makers on compute scale, vendor accountability, and responsible deployment. We examine both directions of the paradox: how to build and scale AI sustainably and responsibly, and how to use AI as a genuine accelerator for climate and ESG outcomes.
