✨ What is Woven Grove?
Woven Grove is a community crochet installation transforming UBC’s bosque into a dream-like yarn forest this September. Students, staff, and community members are invited to contribute handmade squares and uplifting messages. These pieces will be sewn together and interwoven with original crochet designs to create an immersive installation welcoming students into the new semester.
🌿 Materials
Please bring a crochet hook and yarn! Please use biodegradable yarn (cotton, wool, linen, hemp, silk, soy). Materials will be provided at sessions if needed.
About the Organizer
Woven Grove is led by Hannah Ramos, recipient of the UBC Inspire Art Grant and a Bachelor of Science student in Food, Nutrition and Health at UBC. She is a self-taught, free-form crochet artist and upcycler of over five years, and a former president of the SFU Knitting Club. Her crocheted bags have won awards, recognized by SFU’s Chang Instituate at the SFU Maker’s Fest and got the entrepreneurial mindset award
Crochet has been a source of grounding, healing, and connection in her life, and this project grew out of a desire to share that sense of care and belonging with others on campus.
