Pottery Painting Social 🎨

​Spend a relaxed Saturday afternoon painting your own piece of ceramic and walking away with something you actually made. No skill required, no rules, no one watching over your shoulder. Just good company, a bunch of paint, and two hours to make something that is completely yours.

​This is a chill, creative, low pressure kind of hangout. Plenty of people come solo, and painting side by side turns out to be one of the easier ways to actually talk to new people. Bring a friend or come on your own and meet the group.

​How It Works

​You will pick out a ceramic piece at the studio, anything from a plate to a mug to a bowl to a decorative piece. Prices vary depending on what you choose.

​Once you have your piece, you get two hours to paint it however you like. All the paint, brushes, and supplies you need are provided by the studio, so you do not need to bring anything.

​When you are done, you write your name on your piece and leave it with the studio. They fire it in their kiln, which takes a couple of days. After that you can head back and pick up your finished, glazed piece.

​What to Expect

​Beginners are genuinely welcome. There is no technique to learn and no experience needed. Paint what you like, however you like. Abstract, neat, chaotic, all of it works.

​Expect a relaxed pace, easy conversation, and a group of people who mostly have not done this before either. Staff at the studio are around if you have questions about the paint or the process.

​Cost

​Event cost: $5 per person.

​Please send the $5 event cost to payments@vancityconnect.org to confirm your registration. This covers your spot and the group organization. It is non-refundable.

​Separately, you will pay the studio directly on the day for the ceramic piece you choose. Pieces generally run somewhere in the $30 to $50 range depending on what you pick, and that price includes all the paint, brushes, supplies, and the firing.

​Location

​The exact studio address is shared with confirmed participants once your registration is approved. Everyone arranges their own transportation to the venue.

​What's Included

​Your spot in the group session, two hours of studio painting time, paint and brushes and all supplies at the studio, firing of your finished piece, and group organization and coordination.

​What's Not Included

​The ceramic piece itself, paid directly to the studio on the day (roughly $30 to $50). Food, drinks, and personal expenses. Transportation and parking. Your return trip to collect the fired piece.

​Important Notes

​Spots are limited to 15 and registration is only confirmed once payment is received.

​Please arrive on time so everyone gets the full two hours.

​The $5 registration payment is non-refundable unless the organizer decides otherwise.

​Your finished piece needs to be collected from the studio a few days later, and that pickup is your own responsibility.

​Wear something you do not mind getting a bit of paint on.

​Studio pricing, availability, and firing timelines are set by the venue and may change.
