About Event

Production data doesn't sit still. Schemas drift, bad loads slip in, and sooner or later someone asks what the numbers looked like last Tuesday. Chapter 4 of DuckLake: The Definitive Guide is about how DuckLake handles change, and so is this stream.

Alex Monahan, co-author of the O'Reilly book, is joined by Hoyt Emerson of Early Signal, who has spent the past few months building and documenting a production DuckLake stack. Rather than race through the whole chapter, they're working through the change-handling features live.

You'll learn how to:

  • Time travel to any snapshot, whether to query history or undo a bad write

  • Evolve schemas without rewriting data or breaking downstream readers

  • Track every insert, update, and delete between snapshots with the change feed
