About Event

AI agents are changing how software gets built, and engineering teams now expect developers who can collaborate with agents, design repeatable workflows, and ship faster with confidence. In this hands-on workshop—hosted by CreateHER Fest in partnership with goose—, you’ll step into the role of the Winter Festival’s newly hired AI Engineer, using goose—an open-source, LLM-agnostic, MCP-native AI agent—to build real-world projects instead of toy examples.

Across a series of guided challenges, you’ll rescue a fortune teller using CLI automation, visualize data from a hot cocoa championship with MCP servers, and delegate work to subagents as you learn practical agentic patterns you can reuse in your own codebases. You’ll start with simple commands and progress toward reusable, production-ready agent workflows, focusing on orchestration, context design, and tool integration.

What you’ll do

  • Use goose to plan and execute multi-step tasks on real repositories, including troubleshooting and iterating like an AI-native teammate.

  • Automate CLI tasks to “rescue” a fortune teller character, learning how to safely delegate shell and file operations to an agent.

  • Connect to MCP servers to explore and visualize hot cocoa championship data, practicing how to layer tools and data sources into your workflows.

  • Design and refine agent workflows with subagents, reusable context, and approval modes so they are safe, debuggable, and ready for production use.

Builder takeaways

  • Clear strategies for using AI agents effectively on real, production codebases so you can stay competitive in a rapidly evolving engineering job market.

  • Practical patterns for breaking ideas into agent-driven workflows, delegating to subagents, and integrating tools into existing projects and hackathon repos.

  • A set of reusable, documented workflows and mental models you can bring into future CreateHER projects, interviews, and portfolios—not just a single demo.

Who this is for

  • Engineers and builders who want to move beyond “vibes-based prompting” and into structured, production-minded agent workflows.

  • Hackathon participants who want their AI agents to ship: starter repos, data visualizations, and automation they can extend with their teams.

  • Curious technologists at any level; the content is accessible to mixed experience groups, with stretch challenges for more advanced participants.
