Rethinking 3D Design - Why the Old Learning Routes No Longer Work - PART 2
Workshop 1: Rethinking 3D Design - Why the Old Learning Routes No Longer Work
Number of Sessions: 2
Duration per Session: 2 hours 15 minutes
Description
This workshop introduces participants to how 3D Design has changed and why traditional, step-by-step tutorials and tool-focused learning no longer reflect how creative work happens today. Rather than starting with complex software features, the session focuses on understanding why and how 3D Design is used across making, fabrication, prototyping, visual effects (VFX), and real-time digital environments.
Participants will explore how ideas move from concept to usable outcomes and why purpose, context, and intention matter more than memorising buttons and shortcuts. The workshop encourages learners to think creatively and strategically about 3D Design, helping them develop confidence and clarity before moving into hands-on production.
Requirements for Attendees
Notebook or sketchbook for notes, diagrams, and idea sketches
Storage device (USB or external drive) or a Google account to copy work and download software/resources for continued learning
Pen or pencil
Computers will be provided; participants may bring their own device if they wish
Optional Resources
Reference images, drawings, or examples of objects and designs that inspire them
Learning Outcomes
Understand why older approaches to learning 3D Design are no longer effective
Recognise the importance of purpose, context, and outcomes in modern 3D Design
Gain awareness of how 3D Design links to fabrication, prototyping, VFX, and engines
Develop a more confident, goal-led approach to learning and using 3D Design
