About Event

The UK design job market feels… foggy right now.
Roles sound similar but expect different things.
Great portfolios don’t always convert to interviews.
And for international designers, the rules can feel invisible.

So we’re hosting an honest, practical conversation about how the UK design market actually works.

This is not a “10 tips to fix your CV” talk. It’s a grounded discussion shaped by real hiring, leadership, and teaching experience.

🧭 What we’ll explore

• How to write a CV that actually works in the UK market
• What hiring managers really pay attention to beyond a polished portfolio
• Startups vs corporates, permanent roles vs contracting
• How to position yourself at different career stages
• Communicating impact, not just tasks
• Common blind spots international designers face when applying in the UK
• ......

Expect clarity, nuance, and plenty of space for questions.

🎙 Speaker

Veron

Veron is a design leader with 20+ years of experience across startups, scale-ups, corporates, public sector, and consultancy in the UK.

She’s been Head of Design for over 5 years, most recently at Accurx (UK health tech) and previously at Elvie, where she built design teams from the ground up and worked closely with exec leadership.

She’s worked across healthcare, finance, retail, culture, and education, with organisations including NHS England, BP, John Lewis & Partners, and The British Museum.

Alongside her industry leadership, Veron is a Senior Lecturer at London College of Communication and Central Saint Martins, where she teaches Service and Product Design.

This gives her a rare dual perspective: both hiring designers in the UK market and mentoring designers at different stages of their careers as they navigate career transitions.

Drawing from her experience leading teams and hiring designers, she will share insights into how candidates can position themselves more strategically — especially in today’s competitive market.

In 2025, she launched a coaching practice supporting designers navigating career transitions in the UK, especially those with international backgrounds.
