Nucleate Rhode Island: BioHack
Join Nucleate Rhode Island for our inaugural BioHack event. This is event is sponsored by CIC and RILSH, in collaboration with the tech transfer offices of Brown University and the University of Rhode Island.
BioHack comprises two days of programming that allow students and trainees in the life sciences to experience the planning and development of a company from an IP already established by faculty at Brown. Teams will identify IP of interest from pre-selected lists, and plan out the necessary steps towards commercialization, under the guidance of industry experts. At the culmination of the event, industry leaders will serve as judges, score each company, and select a winner. A $3,000 prize purse will be distributed. Event programming will include: office hours, where teams can meet with industry experts to work through design challenges; debrief panels, where experts can speak to the group about advice best suited to the pre-selected IP categories; lectures, from experts about skills necessary for all teams such as pitching and IP transfer. Final pitches, judging and a networking celebration will occur at the end of the event.
The event begins Friday, November 13th at 6:30pm. Day 1 will comprise team formation and a networking reception, going until 9:30pm. The event continues on until Saturday, November 14th, starting at 9:30am. Working sessions, lectures and panels will take place until 4:00pm. Pitches, judge deliberation, awards and networking will take place from 4:00pm - 9:30pm.
This event will be located at CIC Providence, 225 Dyer St.
