Beginner Course - Week 2
5-Week Beginner Tango Course
Spend your Fridays learning something your phone can't teach you. And making friends.
Tango = an excuse to be weirdly present with another human, move to music from 1940s Buenos Aires, and actually talk to people IRL. No screens. No scrolling. Just you, another person, and whether you can walk backwards without looking.
Every Friday, 6:30-8:30pm (Jan 30 - Feb 27)
What we'll cover:
Walking (with a person in front of you, sometimes backwards, if you're brave)
Leading/following aka how to have a conversation without talking
Orchestras, rhythm, how to actually HEAR tango music
Tango culture and history (the drama, the codes, the vibes)
How to practice at home or with friends and actually improve
How to participate in the local tango community, the bigger Scotland scene, and events happening around the world
Social time: cookies, unhinged games, realizing there are weirder people than you out there (I'm talking about myself, okay 🐣)
No partner needed. No experience needed. Just comfy clothes and flat shoes!
How the money works: I make £0 from this (have a day job, do it because I love dancing). Venue gets paid. Rest goes to the "visiting teachers fund" so we can invite cool people and organise cool events.
There will be baked goods. There will be memes (meme-based learning is superior). There will be my feelings about music written and played by dead people.
