Musa Labs Hackathon LA Sponsored by Azure
We’re bringing the next wave of AI innovation to Los Angeles with a one-day hackathon focused on datacenter and energy management. Co-hosted with Microsoft and Sumtyme, this event challenges builders to design multi-agent AI systems and apply time-series intelligence to solve some of the most pressing challenges in energy optimization, sustainability, and large-scale infrastructure management.
Participants will leverage Azure AI Foundry to build collaborative agent systems and put Sumtyme’s time-series models to the test in high-impact energy scenarios.
Challenge Areas
Microsoft Challenge (Morning): Use Azure AI Foundry to design multi-agent systems that optimize datacenter operations, reduce energy waste, and improve sustainability outcomes.
Sumtyme Challenge (Afternoon): Apply and stress-test Sumtyme’s time-series algorithms on energy datasets and infrastructure scenarios. Identify blind spots, model energy demand events, or develop innovative applications for smarter grid and datacenter management.
Event Schedule
10:00 AM – 1:00 PM | Microsoft Lab & Challenge

Judging Criteria
Projects will be evaluated on:
Impact of Industry Use Case (by Dollars): Measurable potential to reduce costs, optimize energy, or improve sustainability in datacenters and grid systems.
Responsible & Ethical AI: Adherence to safety, transparency, and ethical standards in building intelligent, autonomous energy solutions.
Completeness of Product: Functionality, usability, and readiness of the prototype within the hackathon timeframe.
Prizes
Microsoft Track: $500 for best datacenter-focused multi-agent solution
Sumtyme Track: $500 for best energy management stress test or application
Bonus: Teams placing in both tracks are eligible for an additional $500 — bringing the total potential prize pool to $1,500.
