About Event

What would the year 2125 look like if AI were not treated as inevitable, but as something shaped by human values and collective choices?

This session combines Timescaping, a guided practice of imagining society 100 years into the future created by Cristian Boscheri, with a critical framework from contemporary AI ethics research that challenges dominant narratives of AI inevitability.

We'll explore long-term futures through four lenses:

  • Resisting harmful AI narratives, systems, and power structures

  • Refusing technologies, uses, or norms that undermine human or planetary well-being

  • Reclaiming agency, ownership, and governance over AI systems

  • Reimagining radically different futures grounded in care, plurality, and more-than-human perspectives

Let's examine how futures are shaped, whose interests they serve, and what alternatives become visible when inevitability is questioned.

What to expect

  • A structured facilitated session that is participatory and reflective

  • A mental reset for long-term thinking

  • Conversations guided by carefully designed prompts with a diverse group of people

  • Space to develop and share your own future questions and perspectives

  • Collective reflection on what these imagined futures reveal about today

For whom
This session is intended for people working with, thinking about, or affected by AI, including:

  • AI professionals and researchers

  • AI ethics practitioners and policy workers

  • Designers, technologists and social scientists

  • Anyone interested in long-term, values-driven perspectives on AI

No technical expertise is required. Curiosity and critical engagement are.

Why this matters
AI futures are often framed as unavoidable outcomes of technical progress. This session starts from a different premise: the future of AI is a shared decision. By imagining distant futures through ethical and political lenses, we can gain clearer insight into present-day assumptions, constraints and points where we can make a difference.

About the facilitator
The session is facilitated by Cristian Boscheri, creator of Timescaping and founder of 22nd Century Hub. He’s an artist, entrepreneur and facilitator with 10+ years of experience. His work focuses on creating conditions for collective imagination, long-term thinking, and meaningful dialogue across disciplines.
