​Since the late 2000s, hardware has become increasingly sealed shut.

​You can use a phone all day and still have no idea what sits inside it. Hardware stopped becoming something people could shape themselves.

​Lumina House is reversing that.

​A new wave of female builders are opening technology back up through cyberdecks: Initially meaning mini computers, but we're expanding that to include any custom-built objects with hidden systems embedded inside them.

​Compact mirrors turned into smart interfaces.

​Lipstick cases with alarms or sensors.

​Handbags carrying entire miniature computers.

​These builds reflect a paradigm shift in how technology is imagined. Built around the objects people already live with instead of forcing people to adapt around cold industrial design.

​Participants will work with Raspberry Pis, embedded systems, sensors, fabrication tools, and 3D printing to build objects that feel closer to artefacts than consumer electronics.

​Tools are provided. Feel free to bring your own sets of hardware and accessories.
