About Event

Event Description

Agriculture remains one of the most powerful engines for economic development and poverty reduction, yet today’s food systems are under increasing strain from climate change, land degradation, and shifting global dynamics. The challenge is not just how food is produced, but how entire value chains can become more resilient, equitable, and sustainable.

This discussion explores how to build climate-resilient agricultural systems that connect farmers to markets, protect ecosystems, and create inclusive economic opportunity. From watershed-based agroecology to land rights and rural entrepreneurship, we will examine the foundational conditions that enable long-term success.

We will also look at the role of finance in closing the significant funding gap in agrifood systems, and how to better integrate climate and agricultural finance to support regenerative practices at scale. With a focus on sub-Saharan Africa and other emerging markets, the session will explore how to strengthen value chains, support youth in agribusiness, and advance more equitable global trade.

At a time when traditional sources of coordination and funding are shifting, this conversation invites participants to rethink how to drive progress on sustainable agriculture and deforestation, and how to build systems that can endure in a changing global landscape.
